It's well known that McQueen was an avid Porsche fan, owning several and featuring many in his films.  Surely the 1968 911 T/R  was on his radar when selecting a vehicle for the infamous car chase in the film Bullitt.

With only 28 examples of the 911 T/R built, it was probably too unlikely for detective Lieutenant Frank Bullitt to get his hand on one.   This left a more realistic 1968 Mustang GT as the choice.

The above example is painted to reflect the condition of the original Mustang that was discovered at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14, 2018, and sold for $3.74 million at the Mecum Kissimmee 2020 auction.

It's fun to think of what the hammer price could have been if this 1968 911 T/R would have graced the screen.  10 Million?
